Lehigh's win over Michigan jumps Mountain Hawks into top five of USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll

Manheim, Pennsylvania -- Lehigh's 27-8 victory this past weekend over then-No. 4 Michigan shook up the top ten teams in this week's USA Today/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll released on Tuesday.
The Mountain Hawks (3-0) were this week's biggest mover, jumping five spots from No. 10 to No. 5, while Cornell (1-0) jumped four spots from No. 19 to No. 15 after a 30-10 victory over then-No. 13 Northern Iowa (1-1). Lehigh also beat No. 24 Edinboro 27-14 over the weekend.
The last time Lehigh was in the top five was on February 23, 2005.
Penn State (3-0) remained unbeaten, beating host Binghamton 40-2 in front of over 3,000 fans. Ohio State (1-0) was idle and remained at No. 2, while third-ranked Oklahoma State (2-0) made a statement, crushing then-No. 6 Minnesota 30-3 on Sunday in Stillwater. Michigan (1-1) slid five spots to No. 9, while NC State (6-0) and Iowa (3-0) moved up one spot each. Minnesota landed at No. 8. Virginia Tech (3-0) was pushed down one spot after Lehigh's jump.
NC State stayed unbeaten, beating Utah Valley 34-6 and a pair of non-Division I programs, while Iowa went 3-0 at the Iowa City Duals, beating Buffalo 33-6, North Dakota State 38-6 and Iowa Central Community College 48-0.
Virginia Tech topped then No. 17 Central Michigan 26-6 in Cassell Coliseum. Wisconsin went 2-0, heading west to beat then-No. 25 Pittsburgh 26-6 and getting past pesky CSU Bakersfield 22-18.
Stanford fell three spots into a tie for the 24th position with Pittsburgh. The Cardinal (2-2) were upended at home in an outdoor dual in Palo Alto by unranked Maryland (3-1), which just missed breaking into the Top 25 for the first time since 2014.
The USA Today/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll is comprised of two voting coaches from each Division I wrestling conference. Points are 25 for each first-place vote, 24 for second, 23 for third all the way to a 25th-place vote is one point.
Future Poll Dates (Tuesdays unless otherwise noted): November 28, December 5, December 12, December 19, January 3 (Wednesday), January 9, January 16, January 23, January 30, February 6, February 13, February 20, February, 27.
