Wednesday, March 8, 2017 is is International Women’s Day. USA Wrestling will “Be Bold For Change” as we launch our 5 Weeks to $50,000 Movement to support Women’s Wrestling.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 for women’s wrestling in 5 weeks, with the kick off date being March 8th.

GET NOTICED by wearing wrestling shoes (or your favorite wrestling gear) tomorrow (Wednesday, March 8) and spread the word on social media!!

#BeBoldForChange is the campaign theme for International Women’s Day 2017, and the women’s wrestling movement is all in.

We need to take action that truly drives the greatest change for women’s wrestling. There is a lot going on right now, especially on the high school and youth levels.

On January 14th, Colorado held its first ever girls-specific high school wrestling tournament at Frederick High School. There were seven brackets with 80 girls from 42 high schools.

On February 12th, 2017 Kansas held its first all-female open high school wrestling tournament. 56 girls from 36 high schools competed at McPherson High School.

The events in Colorado and Kansas are hopefully just the first step in getting those states to officially sanction girls wrestling there.

Women’s wrestling is one of the fastest growing sports at the scholastic and collegiate levels. As the sport grows, so does the need for support.

As seen in Rio with Helen Maroulis bringing home the first ever USA women’s gold medal, what was considered impossible, is now a reality!

The women of USA Wrestling continue to strive to be the best in the World and with your help, changes can be made and barriers broken.

These women need your help to reach new heights and set new standards by spreading the word to gain supporters for women’s wrestling at all levels.

We need to be bolder than we have ever been, providing opportunities these and future women wrestlers never had.
