Green and Nelson, win golds, Augello adds bronze at Outstanding Ukrainian Memorial

KIEV, Ukraine – The United States finished the final day of the the Outstanding Ukrainian Wrestlers and Coaches Memorial with three more medals, including two golds and a bronze medal on Sunday.
Winning men’s freestyle gold medals were 2015 World bronze medalist James Green, Lincoln, Neb. (Titan Mercury WC) at 70 kg/154 lbs. and two-time NCAA champion Tony Nelson (Minneapolis, Minn./Minnesota Storm) at 120 kg/275 lbs.
Green won all three of his matches, including a 10-0 technical fall over 2016 World University bronze medalist Hamed Rashidi of Iran in the finals. His other wins were a quarterfinal 7-6 decision over Surho Rashytkhanau of Belarus and a 5-3 semifinal win over Azamat Nurykau of Belarus.
Green, a four-time All-American at Nebraska, also was a member of the 2016 U.S. World Team.
Nelson won all three of his matches, including a pin of veteran Daniel Ligeti of Hungary in the finals. Ligeti was a 2016 Olympian and fifth at the 2010 World Championships.
Nelson, who starred at the University of Minnesota, opened with a 13-1 technical fall over Tarik Azzouzi of Belgium, then stopped Oleksandr Koldovskyi of Ukraine, 4-1 in the semifinals.

Claiming a bronze medal for Team USA were 2016 Olympian Haley Augello (Lockport, Ill./New York AC) at 53 kg/116.5 lbs.
Augello opened with a 10-6 win over Larysa Skobliuk of Ukraine. She was defeated in her second bout by 2012 World University champion Iryna Husyak of Ukraine, 1-0. She powered back in the bronze-medal match with a 10-0 technical fall over 2013 Cadet World bronze medalist Kateryna Mashkevvych of Ukraine.
Placing fifth at 70 kg/154 lbs. was Jason Chamberlain (Fresno, Calif./Titan Mercury WC), who finished with a 2-2 record. In the bronze-medal bout, he lost to 2016 European bronze medalist Semen Radulov of Ukraine, 8-3.
The United States finished with eight medals, from a team including both men’s and women’s freestyle wrestlers. On Friday, the USA was led by gold medalist Victoria Anthony (Tempe, Ariz./Sunkist Kids) at 48 kg/105.5 lbs., silver medalists Alli Ragan (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) at 60 kg/132 lbs. and Frank Perrelli (Charlottesville, Va./Titan Mercury WC) at 57kg/125.5 lbs. plus bronze medalists Helen Maroulis (Rockville, Md./Sunkist Kids) at 60 kg/132 lbs. and Alex Dieringer (Stillwater, Okla./Titan Mercury WC) at 74 kg/163 lbs.
