Minnesota is defending double champion as National Schoolboy/girl Duals kick off in Indianapolis today

USA Wrestling’s popular age-group National Duals series begins today, as the 2017 Schoolboy/girl National Duals get underway on Thursday in Indianapolis.
State-level teams of Schoolboy/girl athletes, who are 13-14 years old, will compete in Greco-Roman and freestyle dual meets.
In 2016, Minnesota was the Schoolboy Duals National champions in both styles. In Greco-Roman, Minnesota 1 defeated Colorado Red, 39-37 in the finals dual meet. In the freestyle finals, Minnesota 1 defeated Illinois in the championship match, 52-23.
In Greco-Roman last year, finishing behind Minnesota and Colorado were third place Team Washington, fourth place Pennsylvania Red, fifth place Illinois, sixth place Team N.J., seventh place Team Iowa and eighth place Team Georgia Red
In freestyle, placing behind Minnesota and Illinois were third place Pennsylvania Red, fourth place Colorado Red, fifth place Team Washington, sixth place Team N.J., seventh place Oklahoma Red and eighth place Team Arizona.
The Greco-Roman tournament begins Thursday, with finals on Friday. The freestyle competition begins Saturday, with the finals set for Sunday.
The Schoolboy/girl National Duals will be broadcast live by Trackcast.
This event will be followed later this month by the Cadet National Duals in York, Pa. and the Junior National Duals in Tulsa, Okla.
Many top wrestling stars who have gone on to success at the high school, college and international levels have competed in this event over the years.
