In the House #Fargo2017: Three-time Olympian Dan Chandler plus World medalists Kristie Davis and Andy Bisek

Three-time Olympian, multiple Olympic and World Team coach, and coach with Minnesota USA Wrestling, Dan Chandler was working with youth athletes in Fargo again this year. Photo by Jim Thrall.
As Greco-Roman has been prominent late in the week here in Fargo, more top wrestling celebrities are on hand at the combined USMC Junior and Cadet Nationals. TheMat.com has a growing list of these leaders who are on the floor in the FargoDome in a variety of roles.
We also have many Olympians who have been with us at the event, Today’s addition is:
• Three-time Olympian and multiple World Team member Dan Chandler is here, working with the wrestlers on Team Minnesota. Chandler has been Olympic and World Team coach in Greco-Roman numerous times and mentored World and Olympic medalists but also has been one of the best youth coaches in the nation working with kids of all ages in Minnesota.
The other Olympians here in Fargo have been Ben Askren, Rob Eiter, Jesse Thielke, Shawn Sheldon, Jake Deitchler, John Morgan, Lee Kemp, Mike Zadick, Doug Schwab, Jared Frayer, Ike Anderson.
Add in the Olympic medalists we have seen in Fargo, Rulon Gardner, Jim Martinez, Brandon Paulson, Nate Carr, Ben Peterson and John Smith.
We continue to find past Senior World Team members at the FargoDome, including:
• Two-time World champion and seven-time World medalist Kristie Davis is here. Her role is to be a wrestling parent, as her daughter Kayla Marano is competing for Team Georgia and seeking to defend her Junior National title.
• Two-time World bronze medalist Andy Bisek, who is currently the Assistant Greco-Roman coach at the U.S. Olympic Training Site at Northern Michigan University.
• Another past World Team member on site is Rob Hermann, who has been an Olympic and World Team coach many times. Hermman is the Head Greco-Roman coach at the U.S. Olympic Training Site at Northern Michigan University and is supporting the Greco-Roman wrestlers on hand. Hermann won a Pan American Games bronze medal back in the day.
These stars join World Team members Reece Humphrey, Tom Erikson, Nick Marable and Obe Blanc, Brent Metcalf, Tony Ramos, Angel Escobedo, Chris Bono, Jessica Medina, Joe Betterman, Deanna Betterman, Veronica Carlson have already been introduced.
A few more Women’s college head coaches were roaming the FargoDome, including:
• Tony DeAnda of the University of Providence
• Kevin Corbett of Lyon College.
So far, the women’s college head coaches in Fargo have been Link Davis of Emmanuel College, Matt Stevens of Oklahoma City University, Ashley Sword of Life University, Donnie Stephens of the University of the Cumberlands, Lee Miracle of Campbellsville University, Sam Schmitz of McKendree University, Andy Cook of Grays Harbor CC, Geneva Gray of Bacone College and Shauna Isbell Kemp of Jamestown University.
We have seen some other very active wrestling people worth noting today.
• Willie Madison, who was a Greco-Roman Team member, starting with the USOEC program at Northern Michigan and then as a USOTC resident athlete, took time from his government job in the Washington, D.C. area to work with some young athletes from the Capitol region.
• Lester Ware, who wrestled at a high level in Senior Greco-Roman many years ago, is assisting the young wrestlers from New York.
• Travis Rutt, who competed in Senior Greco-Roman, and has coached at the college and youth levels, was among the coaches helping young athletes this week.
We had a lot of fun trying to capture all of the men’s college coaches in Fargo. This is what we have been able to scribble down.
