U.S. Olympic Training Center to host Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference wrestling championship for second-straight year, Feb. 4

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.
- The 2017 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Wrestling Championship will be held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center for the second-consecutive year in Colorado Springs on Saturday, Feb. 4.


RMAC will once again partner with USA Wrestling for the championship.


Last year, the event was the first RMAC-only wrestling championship since 1996 and the first collegiate wrestling tournament held at the U.S. Olympic Training Center.


California Baptist University’s three individual champions, helped the Lancers take the team title in 2016 with 133.5 team points, besting runner-up Westernby 10 points.


Wrestling institutions within the RMAC include Adams State, Chadron State, Colorado Mesa, Colorado School of Mines, CSU-Pueblo, New Mexico Highlands and Westernas well associate members California Baptist University and San Francisco State.


From 1997-2014, the RMAC wrestling championship was combined with the NCAA Division II regional tournament, and in 2015, the RMAC dual-meet champion was recognized as the conference champion.


The RMAC was founded in 1909 and is one of the most historic collegiate organizations in the western United States. Wrestling was introduced to the RMAC in 1922, with the University of Colorado winning the first team title.


Considered as one of the best wrestling conferences in NCAA Division II, the RMAC has had 13 national team champions since 1963.


Tickets for the championship are $10 for an all-day pass, $8 for students and Seniors, and free for those under 3 years old. In addition, kids eighth grade and younger wearing their wrestling club t-shirt will get in for free.


The RMAC Championships preview will be released Monday, January 30.
