U.S. Jewish wrestlers sought for the 20th World Maccabiah Games, with USA Trials in Philadelphia on April 2

Philadelphia, PA, February 15, 2017 – Maccabi USA is seeking qualified Jewish male wrestlers, ages 18-35, to represent Team USA at the 20th World Maccabiah Games in Israel, July 4-18, 2017. Open Wrestlers will be part of the overall 1,100+ member Team USA at the 2017 World Maccabiah Games, comprised of 10,000 athletes, from 80 countries, participating in 43 sports.


The Maccabi USA Team Trials will be held on April 2, 2017 in Philadelphia, PA. The event is organized by Maccabi USA Wrestling Co-Chairmen, David Pruzansky from Wayne, NJ and Stuart Pruzansky from Clifton, NJ. The cost of the trials per person is $100.00 which will include a commemorative t-shirt.


Chris Feder of San Rafael, CA, is the Head Coach for the USA Open Wrestling Team. He is the Head Coach for the wrestling team Marin Catholic High School, the Brawlers Wrestling Club in Marin County, CA, and the Executive Director of Beat the Streets San Francisco. Feder competed in the 1969 and 1989 Maccabiah Games.


Robinson Prebish of Richmond, VA, is the Assistant Coach for the USA Open Wrestling Team. He is the Assistant Coach at St. Christopher’s School in Richmond, VA and the Virginia Wrestling Association Media Director. Prebish competed in the 1989 and 1993 Maccabiah Games.


“There is no feeling that compares to walking out on the mat, representing Team USA at the World Maccabiah Games. I have experienced it more than once and the sense of pride you feel is incredible” said Feder. “We look forward to sharing that experience with the athletes that make the Open Men’s Wrestling Team for the 20th World Maccabiah Games.”


The World Maccabiah Games are more than an international sporting competition; they are a celebration of Jewish culture, unity and pride. ISRAEL CONNECT, Maccabi USA’s unique cultural and educational program, takes place for seven days prior to the start of the Games. All Juniors, Youth, Open, and Paralympic athletes must participate in the program, where they have the opportunity to tour historical and religious sites, take part in cultural identity seminars and train with their teams, all while developing lifelong relationships.
