UPDATE: U.S. sends strong team for Pan American Schoolboy/girl Championships in Chile, August 17-19

The USA is sending a strong team of men and women wrestlers to the Pan American Schoolboy/girl Championships, which compete August 17-19 in Santiago, Chile.
The U.S. team was selected based upon approved procedures. The men’s athletes were double All-Americans in the Schoolboy division at the Kids Freestyle and Greco-Roman Nationals in Atlanta, Ga. The women’s athletes were All-Americans in the Schoolgirl division at the USA Wrestling Women’s Nationals in Irving, Texas.
The men’s athletes will compete in both styles. The tournament begins on Thursday with Greco-Roman, followed by women’s freestyle on Friday and men’s freestyle on Saturday.
Among the men entries, Schoolboy double national champions (winners in both freestyle and Greco-Roman) on the team are Kolby Warren of Missouri, Vance Vombaur of Colorado, Robert Perez of California and Noah Pettigrew of Georgia.
Two of the men’s team members were also Schoolboy national champions in freestyle, Christopher Martino of Idaho and Kenneth Lenger of Missouri.
Schoolgirl National champions on the women’s team include Virginia Foard of Virginia, Sterling Dias of Nevada, Sage Mortimer of Utah, Kylie Welker of Wisconsin, Alexys Zepeda of Oregon and Kennedy Blades of Illinois.
The U.S. team will be coached by highly respected leaders within USA Wrestling. The women’s team is coached by three-time World champion, five-time World medalist and Olympian Adeline Gray of Colorado, and California Women’s Director and Titan Mercury coach Michael Duran. The men’s team will be coached by Chris Owens of Idaho and Brauman Creighton of California, both who have many years of successful coaching at many levels.
