The United States will send 13 talented wrestlers to the Veterans Greco-Roman World Championships in Seinäjoki, Finland, Sept. 23-25.

Internationally, Veterans athletes are 35 years old and above, and compete in seven age divisions.

Among the Americans is 2014 Veteran Greco-Roman World champion Chris Brown of Boyds, Md., who will compete in Division E at 85 kg. This will be his eighth appearance in the Veteran Greco World Championships. Overall, Brown is a seven-time Veteran World medalist. Last year, he finished fifth at the event.

Six-time Veterans World Championships medalist Bruce Moe of Hillsboro, N.D., is set to compete at 76 kg in Division E. Moe has medaled in every Veterans Worlds event he has competed in, including silver medals in the Veterans Greco World Championships in 2013 and 2014 and a bronze at last year’s Greco event. He has also claimed three bronze medals at the Veterans Freestyle World Championships.

Other multi-Veterans World Championships medalists include Kevin Pine of Las Vegas, Nev., and Steve Contarino of Palmetto, Fla.

Pine will compete at 85 kg in Division C. He earned a bronze medal in the 2015 Veteran Greco World Championships and has collected three other medals at the Veterans Freestyle World Championships. This year, Pine was a double champion at the Veterans national tournament.

Contarino owns two bronze medals from the 2013 and 2015 Veterans Greco World Championships. He earned a silver in freestyle at the 2015 Veterans World Championships and a bronze in freestyle in 2013. He is set to compete at 97 kg in Div. F.

2015 Greco-Roman World silver-medalist Mark LeVasseur of Buffalo Lake, Minn., will return to the World stage at 58 kg in Div. E.

A pair of 2016 USA Veterans double national champions will participate in their first Veterans World Championships. They include Roger Stewart of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jacob Hey of Long Beach, Wash. Hey was a member of Greco-Roman Team USA when he competed at the senior level.

Gabe Beauperthuy of Colorado Springs, Colo., will be competing on his second of three U.S. World Teams this year. He was fifth in the Belt World Championships in Kyrgyzstan earlier this month. He will also compete in the Grappling World Championships in Belarus in early October. Beauperthuy was a national team Greco athlete on the senior level.

U.S. Veterans wrestlers are not required to compete at the Veterans Nationals in order to compete at the World Championships.
