Six American men ranked in latest UWW freestyle rankings; Burroughs remains No. 1

2015 World champion Jordan Burroughs (Lincoln, Neb./Sunkist Kids/Nebraska RTC) remained No. 1 in the latest UWW World freestyle rankings for May 2016. Overall, there are now six American men freestyle wrestlers with UWW World rankings.
Burroughs, who won his third career World title in 2015, to go with a 2012 Olympic gold medal, remained on top of the 74 kg/163 lbs. World freestyle rankings. Burroughs recently took home Gold at the Pan American Championships and the Yassar Dogu International. The 2016 Olympic Team member continued his reign at the No. 1 spot in freestyle at 74 kg with a victory over Andrew Howe at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in April.

Coming in at No. 2 at 97 kg was 2016 Olympic Team member Kyle Snyder (Woodbine, Md./Titan Mercury WC/Ohio RTC). The Maryland native fell down a spot after a third place finish at the Medved International but rebounded with a victory after clashing with 2012 Olympic Champion Jake Varner (Nittany Lion WC) in an epic best-of-three series showdown at the Trials.

2016 Olympic Team member Tervel Dlagnev (Columbus, Ohio/Sunkist Kids) moved up two spots to No. 13 at 125 kg. Dlagnev recently qualified his weight class for the 2016 Olympic Games by winning the Pan American Qualifier in Frisco, Texas. Dlagnev battled his way through the U.S. Olympic Team Trials and defeated Zach Rey, 3-1 and 5-3, in the finals to clinch his Olympic berth.

James Green (Lincoln Neb./ Titan Mercury WC/Nebraska RTC) came in at No. 5 at 70 kg after a second place finish at the Pan American Championships in February. Green won the bronze medal at the 2015 World Championships back in September. He competed at 65kg at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

Moving up one slot is 19-year old Aaron Pico (Whittier Calif./Team USA) who checks in at No. 15 at 70kg. Pico reached the finals of the U.S. Olympic Trials at 65kg.  

Coleman Scott (Chapel Hill, N.C./Sunkist Kids) comes in at No. 17 at 61kg after, up one spot from his April ranking. Scott most recently dominated the competition at the Pan American Championships, outscoring his opponents 28-4, en route to a first place finish. He competed at 57kg at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
