Manheim, Pa. – One of the most competitive weekends of the season helped set the lineup for the upcoming NWCA Division I National Duals as the USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll was released on Monday.
Penn State (15-0) and Iowa (16-0) finished the regular season unbeaten in duals and in conference and both were crowned Big Ten regular season champions. Penn State will host third-ranked Oklahoma State in next weekend’s National Duals series, while Iowa will host No. 4 N.C. State (22-1). The Wolfpack lost 19-14 to Virginia Tech, a win that gave the Hokies (15-2) the ACC regular season title.
N.C. State would rebound, knocking off Missouri (13-2) to complete one of the toughest regular-season dual schedules in the country.
Slight movement occurred in the rest of the poll as Oklahoma (10-5) fell to unranked Oregon State 22-12, but rebounded to beat South Dakota State (13-6). Despite the loss, the Jackrabbits remain in the Top 25. Arizona State bounced CSU Bakersfield from the Top 25 with a 21-18 win on Sunday.
North Carolina (12-4) and Virginia (6-6) fell to unranked teams during the week and each slid one spot in the rankings. x
