As the saying goes - the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat. Losing is often difficult for anyone and for youth it can result in tears, blame, anger or feelings of failure. As a parent or coach, your reaction to a loss can have a direct impact on how your athletes process losing a match. As Sportsmanship Month comes to an end, Liberty Mutual Insurance’s Play Positive® asks you, when your youth athlete/team loses, what is your initial reaction?
Teach, encourage, and model good sportsmanship in moments of winning and losing. Read the Liberty Mutual Insurance Play Positive® article “Win and Lose with Class.”
