Ramos, Green, Burroughs and Rey receive World Championships draws

LAS VEGAS – The final four U.S. athletes have weighed in and received their draws for the last day of competition at the World Championships in Las Vegas, Nev.
The World Championships culminate tomorrow at the Orleans Arena with the final four men’s freestyle weight classes: 57kg/125.5 lbs., 70 kg/154 lbs., 74 kg/163 lbs. and 125 kg/275 lbs.
Two-time World champion and Olympic champion Jordan Burroughs (Lincoln, Neb./Sunkist Kids/Nebraska RTC) will begin his quest for a third World title at 74 kg against a very experienced Krystian Brzozowski of Poland.
“Clearly, Jordan Burroughs, he is the worst draw,” said U.S. men’s freestyle coach Brandon Slay. “Jordan just has to be ready. He can’t overlook Poland.”
Four-time NCAA All-American James Green (Willingboro, N.J./Titan Mercury WC/Nebraska RTC) will compete at his first World Championships tomorrow in Las Vegas. Green is set to face fifth place finisher from the 2015 Pan American Games, Jonhattan Emmanuel Scott Duque of Costa Rica, in the opening round at 70 kg.
“I’m excited about James because he likes to pull the trigger,” said Slay. “He is mentally battle-tested, but he is also physically battle tested because he gets to train with Jordan Burroughs on a daily basis. I think he’s going to be ready to shock the world tomorrow.”
Two-time U.S. men’s freestyle World Team member Tony Ramos (Iowa City, Iowa/Titan Mercury WC) will start his World Championship quest at 57 kg against Wber Euclides Cuero Munoz of Colombia.
“Right off the bat, I think about [Ramos] in that barn-burner match with Rahimi, and we saw that was a winnable match,” said Slay. “He should have the confidence that he can beat one of the best guys in the world and he can be one of the best guys in the world.”
Fresh of a Pan American Games gold medal, Zach Rey (Bethlehem, Pa./Lehigh Valley AC) is slated to wrestle 2013 World silver medalist Alan Zasieiev of Ukraine in the first round at 130 kg.
“Just like this morning, Kyle Snyder had a Ukraine World medalist, Zach Rey has a Ukraine World medalist. If you want to be in the World finals, like Kyle is today, then Zach is going to have to be ready to go,” Slay said.
Action from the last day of the World Championships will begin at 10 a.m. (PT) tomorrow.
