When the opportunity presented itself in the spring of 2015, the board of directors of the Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame commissioned artist Robin MacComber to paint a mural on the building adjacent to the Hall of Fame.

The idea behind the mural was to continue in the promotion of amateur wrestling in Iowa. And that’s exactly what the mural is dedicated to; the continued promotion of amateur wrestling in Iowa.

The Board of Directors of the IWHOF hosted a dedication ceremony on Wednesday October 21st for the new mural.

Legendary Olympic champion wrestler and retired Iowa coach Dan Gable was in Cresco to take part in the dedication. Gable was also available for a book signing prior to the event. Copies of his New York Times best seller "A Wrestling Life: The Inspiring Stories of Dan Gable” was available that day.

The Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame in Cresco IA was organized in 1970 to promote amateur wrestling in Iowa. We have a rich history of honoring native Iowans at our annual awards banquet and induction ceremony. The original banquet was held in 1970. When we concluded the 46th annual awards banquet on April 13, 2015, our roster of inductees included 117 outstanding individuals for their contributions to amateur wrestling.

Everyone is invited to step into the Hall of Fame and learn all about these special men. The Hall is located in the Cresco Welcome Center on Hwy 9 in Cresco, and is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM. Visit the website at http://iowawrestlinghalloffame.com/.
