2015 World champions Helen Maroulis (Huntington Beach, Calif./Sunkist Kids) at 55 kg/121 lbs. and Adeline Gray (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) at 75 kg/165 lbs. finished the season ranked No. 1 in the world by United World Wrestling in women’s freestyle.

Gray won her third career World gold medal and her fifth career World medal with a dominant performance at the World Wrestling Championships at the Orleans Arena on September 10. She held the No. 1 ranking throughout her undefeated season this year. Gray currently has a 25-match win streak.

Maroulis claimed her first World title, and her third career World medal, to go along with a silver medal in 2012 and a bronze medal in 2014. She also dominated the field on her way to the gold medal on September 10. Like Gray, she entered the World Championships with a No. 1 World ranking.

2015 World bronze medalist Leigh Jaynes-Provisor finished with a No. 4 ranking at 60 kg/132 lbs. Jaynes-Provisor, competing in her third World Championships, won her first career World medal on September 11. She was unranked going into the World Championships.

The United States, which placed third in the World Championships team standings, had nine wrestlers in the final women’s freestyle ranking of the season.

The six other U.S. wrestlers, ranked between No. 12 and No. 20 in their weights, included:

• Alyssa Lampe (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) at No. 12 at 48 kg

• Elena Pirozhkova (Colorado Springs, Colo./Titan Mercury WC) at No. 12 at 69 kg

• Whitney Conder (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army WCAP) at No. 13 at 53 kg

• Jennifer Page (Colorado Springs, Colo./Titan Mercury WC) at No. 14 at 60 kg

• Alli Ragan (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) at No. 18 at 58 kg

• Erin Clodgo (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids) at No. 20 at 63 kg

All eight of the 2015 U.S. World Team members received a ranking, in addition to Page, who was second at the U.S. World Team Trials at her weight class.

The top six wrestlers in each weight category at the world championships were automatically awarded the top six positions in this month’s rankings. The rankings No. 7 to No. 20 were determined, in part, by a wrestler’s performance in Las Vegas along with results in competition throughout 2015.
