As part of a historic partnership between USA Wrestling, Universal Sports Network and NBC Sports Network, the U.S. Senior Open will be televised on two different national television networks for the first time.

Universal Sports Network is going live from the U.S. Open finals on Saturday, May 9 at 10:00 p.m. ET with a two-hour show.

NBC Sports Network is doing a tape-delayed broadcast on Wednesday, May 13 at 11:30 p.m. ET with a 90-minute show.

Veteran play-by-play announcer Jason Knapp will work with color commentator and Olympic champion Rulon Gardner on both of the television shows.

The U.S. Open, which takes place on the weekend of May 8-9 in Las Vegas, Nev., serves as the annual U.S. national championships in the three Olympic styles: men’s freestyle, women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman. The nation’s best wrestlers will battle for national titles and All-American honors in an event with more than a century of tradition in the United States.

Among the athletes expected to compete are Olympic champion Jake Varner, Olympic medalists Clarissa Chun, Coleman Scott and Randi Miller, and World champions Adeline Gray, Elena Pirozhkova and Iris Smith.

NBCSN and Universal Sports Network will combine to present nine USA Wrestling telecasts from five events, including five live telecasts, and more than 12 hours of total coverage, the most live content in a single season in USA Wrestling history.

The first event from the USA Wrestling series of broadcasts which has aired on NBC Sports Network and Universal Sports Network was the Freestyle World Cup in Los Angeles, Calif., April 11-12. Two live shows were aired from the medal match rounds of this important international competition.

The other events on the national television schedule for NBC Sports Network and Universal Sports Network includes

• Beat the Streets USA vs. Cuba dual in New York, N.Y., May 21

• Greco-Roman World Team Trials Wrestle-off in Ithaca, N.Y., June 4

• U.S. World Team Trials in Madison, Wis., June 13-14

“We are extremely excited to work with our broadcast partners to offer the opportunity to literally millions of American sports fans to enjoy man’s oldest and greatest sport on television,” said Rich Bender, USA Wrestling Executive Director.
