Record turnout in competitive youth divisions at Girls Folkstyle Nationals

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – A record number of youth entries showed up for the most competitive USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle Nationals, held at Freede Center at the Oklahoma City University on Sunday.
The Schoolgirl division featured 86 entries, with Kids Div. II at 103 entries and Kids Div. I at 47 entries.
It continues the tremendous showing for the entire weekend, which also feature 140 Cadet entries and 315 Junior entries. Add in the Women’s University Nationals entry of 103, the total tournament of female wrestlers competing in Oklahoma City this weekend was 794, a record by a large margin.
A highlight of the Schoolgirl competition came when Emily Shilson of Minnesota won the 97 pound title. It was the seventh straight year that Shilson has won the title at this tournament, spanning three different age levels.
Another repeat champion on the Schoolgirl level was Demi Allen of of Indiana pride WA, the 113 pound champion this year after winning at 89 last year. Also repeating as a Schoolgirl champion was Samantha Kaye-Springer of Springfield Youth Sports, the 145 champion, who won gold at 120 last year.
Another repeat champion in Kids Div. I was Alexis Segura of SOT at 55 pounds, who won the title at 50 pounds a year ago.

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – A record number of youth entries showed up for the most competitive USA Wrestling Girls Folkstyle Nationals, held at Freede Center at the Oklahoma City University on Sunday.
The Schoolgirl division featured 86 entries, with Kids Div. II at 103 entries and Kids Div. I at 47 entries.
It continues the tremendous showing for the entire weekend, which also feature 140 Cadet entries and 315 Junior entries. Add in the Women’s University Nationals entry of 103, the total tournament of female wrestlers competing in Oklahoma City this weekend was 794, a record by a large margin.
A highlight of the Schoolgirl competition came when Emily Shilson of Minnesota won the 97 pound title. It was the seventh straight year that Shilson has won the title at this tournament, spanning three different age levels.
Another repeat champion on the Schoolgirl level was Demi Allen of of Indiana pride WA, the 113 pound champion this year after winning at 89 last year. Also repeating as a Schoolgirl champion was Samantha Kaye-Springer of Springfield Youth Sports, the 145 champion, who won gold at 120 last year.
Another repeat champion in Kids Div. I was Alexis Segura of SOT at 55 pounds, who won the title at 50 pounds a year ago.
