TORONTO, Canada – U.S. National Team member Zach Rey has been added to the United States men’s freestyle roster for the Pan American Games.
Rey is scheduled to compete at the Pan Am Games for the U.S. at 125 kg/275 lbs. on Saturday in Toronto, Canada.
Rey (Bethlehem, Pa./Lehigh Valley WC) replaces two-time World bronze medalist Tervel Dlagnev, who will not be competing in Toronto.
Rey finished second to Dlagnev at the U.S. Open and U.S. World Team Trials this year.
Rey won a Pan American Championships title in April in Santiago, Chile.
Rey was an NCAA champion for Lehigh and he is a wrestler who has excelled on the international stage. Also this year, Rey won the Cerro Pelado International in Cuba and placed third at the Alexander Medved International in Belarus.
Dlagnev, who won June’s World Team Trials, is still scheduled to compete for the U.S. at September’s World Championships in Las Vegas.
The U.S. will compete at the Pan Am Games in men’s freestyle, women’s freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling on Wednesday through Saturday in Toronto.
