Eight U.S. women freestylers in UWW July World rankings

United World Wrestling released its newest women’s freestyle World rankings for July.
There are eight American wrestlers in this month’s rankings among the top 20 in their weight classes.
Two-time World champion and four-time World medalist Adeline Gray (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) retained her No. 1 spot at 75 kg, a position she has held throughout the season.
Maintaining her No. 2 World ranking at 55 kg is two-time World medalist Helen Maroulis (Rockville, Md./Sunkist Kids) at 55 kg.
Both Gray and Maroulis earned spots on the 2015 U.S. World Team in June, with victories in the U.S. World Team Trials in Madison, Wis. The U.S. Senior women did not compete in any international events in June.
Dropping three spots to No. 6 at 69 kg was 2012 World champion and four-time World medalist Elena Pirozhkova (Colorado Springs, Colo./Titan Mercury WC). Pirozhkova also won the U.S. World Team Trials to earn a repeat trip to the World Championships.
Five other U.S. women were ranked in the bottom 10 spots of the rankings for July. All of them were ranked lower than the previous month, except one.
At 48 kg, two-time World medalist Alyssa Lampe (Colorado Springs, Colo. (Sunkist Kids) came in at No. 13 and 2013 World Team member Victoria Anthony (Huntington Beach, Calif. (Titan Mercury WC) was ranked No. 15. Both dropped one spot in the rankings. Lampe beat Anthony in the finals of the U.S. World Team Trials.
A pair of U.S. wrestlers are ranked No. 16, Sarah Hildebrandt (Granger, Ind./New York AC) at 55 kg and Jennifer Page (Colorado Springs, Colo./Titan Mercury WC) at 60 kg. Hildebrandt dropped on spot, while Page’s rank remained the same. Page was second and Hildebrandt was third at the U.S. World Team Trials.
Coming in at No. 19 at 63 kg was Erin Clodgo (Colorado Springs, Colo./Sunkist Kids), a drop of two spots. Clodgo qualified for her first Senior World Team with a victory in Madison.
One U.S. wrestler who was ranked in June did not appear in the July rankings, Alli Ragan (Colorado Springs, Colo. /New York AC) at 59 kg. Ragan was a champion at the U.S. World Team Trials and will return to the World Championships this fall.
