Manheim, Pennsylvania -- It wasn't quite a record, but Penn State packed the Bryce Jordan Center for the second straight year with nearly 16,000 fans. Iowa, seasoned with big road crowds, came into University Park and snatched an 18-12 win away from the fifth-ranked Nittany Lions. The win allowed Iowa (13-0) to stay unbeaten and No. 1 in the USA Today/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll released on Tuesday.
Iowa will host No. 16 Michigan on Friday before hosting a regional round of the EAS Sports Nutrition NWCA National Duals presented by Hibiclens and the United States Marine Corps in honor of Cliff Keen. The Hawkeyes will face No. 13 Virginia (10-5). The Cavaliers are coming off a stunning 17-16 loss to North Carolina.
Missouri picked up two Mid-American Conference duals and clinched the regular season dual meet championship and moved to 20-0. The Tigers will host American in a National Duals regional match this weekend.
With a 22-13 win over visiting Minnesota on Friday, Ohio State (12-3) won its eighth straight dual meet and moved up to No. 3. The Buckeyes' only two losses this season came by criteria to current No. 2 Missouri and current No. 9 Virginia Tech.
Ohio State will head east to face No. 15 Edinboro in the regional round of the National Duals. No. 4 Minnesota (11-2) rebounded from the Ohio State loss with a win at Maryland. The Golden Gophers will go on the road for a National Duals first-round regional against No. 23 North Dakota State. NDSU coaches Roger Kish and Manny Rivera are Minnesota alums.
Cornell improved to 14-1 with a pair of big weekend wins over in-state foes Hofstra and Columbia. The Big Red will host Drexel in a first-round regional.
Oklahoma State stayed up at No. 7 after a pair of wins. The Cowboys beat another set of Cowboys, then-No. 20 Wyoming 19-12 before topping rival Oklahoma 25-9 to sweep the Bedlam season series.
Iowa State, Virginia Tech, and Nebraska rounded out the Top 10.
N.C. State (14-5) re-entered the top 25 for the first time since January 6, primarily on the strength of a 21-15 road win at then-No. 17 Old Dominion on Friday.
