The World Cup freestyle wrestling event has taken place in Los Angeles, Calif.. The World Cup was won by the team from Iran, with USA and the Azerbaijan team winning the silver and bronze medals.

The following team places were Russia, Belarus, Mongolia, Cuba and Turkey. All this is very good. However, there was no identification of individual athletes who were the strongest in the weight categories.

In this article I will try to make up for lost time. The International Federation (UWW) stops its World Cup awards with the wrestlers of the winning team awarded a gold medal, and the teams that took second and third place, the silver and bronze medals.

I personally do not like this. We must all look for a protocol to analyze and make individual standings in each weight class.

I am doing this. Therefore, I made up my version of the winners of the individual standings in Los Angeles.

57 kg showed a good competition, as bronze medalist of the 2014 World Championship in weight 61 kg Cuban Yowlys Bonne dropped down. He won all of his battles. Therefore, he can be considered the winner of the World Cup in the individual competition. Iranian Hassan Rahimi also did not lose anyone, but he had one less match fight in than the Cuban. Taking two wins out of four meetings was an American, Tony Ramos. He lost in his meetings with the Cuban and Iranian. Other participants of the competition have one victory.

1st place - Yowlys Bonne (Cuba), 4 wins, won 35 points - lost 9 points

2nd place - Hassan Rahimi (Iran), 3 wins (+18, -9)

3rd place - Tony Ramos (USA), 2 wins, 2 losses (+10, -10).

At 61 kg, the silver medalist of the World Universiade in Kazan, Iranian Behnam Ehshanpoor can safely be considered the winner of the World Cup and in the individual standings. He in turn defeated the Byelorussian Maximov, the Turk Aktas, the current world champion Azeri Aliyev and the American Scott. Haji Aliyev to settle for second place. Third place in the individual standings went to the Turk Aktas and Russian’s Murshid Mutalimov, who had the same results.

1. Benham Ehshanpur - Iran, 4 wins (+26, -12)

2. Haji Aliyev - Azerbaijan, 3 wins, 1 loss (+43, -15)

3. Rekep Aktas - Turkey 2 win, 2 loss (+18, -26)

and Murshid Mutalimov - Russia, 2 win, 2 loss (+14, -10).

At 65 kg, Brent Metcalf had a successful performance that pleased the audience. Although the US team also announced its talented young Aaron Pico at this weight, the coaches trusted the experienced wrestler. Metcalf fulfilled their trust, winning in all the matches. Four fights - four wins. No one except the Americans showed such a result, so Brent Metcalf is the World Cup winner in the individual events. Losing only to Metcalf, the Mongolian Baatyr Ganzorig took second place. With two victories were Maren of Cuba, the Iranian Mohammadi and the Azeri Askerov. However, with the quality of his labor, I gave the Iranian the third place.

1. Brent Mecalf - USA, 4 wins (+32, -8)

2. Mandahnaran Ganzorig - Mongolia, 3 wins, 1 loss (+23, -17)

3. Saeed Mohammadi - Iran, 2 wins (+24, -10)

At 70 kg, although the Russian team performed at these competitions with experimental athletes, Israil Kasumov won all of his bouts. He won against the Mongol Batchuluun, the American Marable, the Cuban Moreno and the Azerbaijani Dibirgadzhieva. Moreover, against Mongolia and Cuban, he scored falls. The winner of the Junior world championship, Iranian Yazdani, also had four wins. However, in quality, due to the pins, indicated that Kasumov was better. I think he won the World Cup.

1. Israil Kasumov - Russia, 4 wins (+12, -8)

2. Hassan Yazdani - Iran, 4 wins (+25, -10)

3. Nick Marable - United States, 2 wins, 2 losses (+19, -10).

74 kg - As expected in this weight class, the favorite of the local audience, Jordan Burroughs, won the gold. Burroughs, the winner of the Olympic Games in London, only gave up two points to the Cuban Lopez, with the other contenders scoring no points. The Cuban had three wins, which placed him on the second line of this analysis. For the third place, claiming two victories were Ali Shabanov (Belarus), Morteza Rezaei (Iran), and Zhabrail Hasanov (Azerbaijan). Who do you think is the best for the bronze?

1. Jordan Burroughs - USA, 4 wins (+32, -2)

2. Livan Lopez - Cuba, 3 wins, 1 loss (+14, -12).

At 86 kg, two wrestlers had the same results, with three victories, Russian Dauren Kurugliev and Iranian Mostafa Jokar. Let us look at their performance. Kurugliev won 10:0 against the Mongolian, pinned the American Ruth, and beat the Azerbaijani 4: 0. Jokar beat the Turk 10:0, the Azerbaijani 12:1, and the American 12:2. Both had three wins: the Russians had a victory by pin, and the Iranian had three technical victories. We turn to another criteria, who earned the most points and on the contrary, how many points did they give up? Kurugliev won 14 points and no points were given up. Jokar scored 34 points and lost 3 points. Whom to choose? This question I leave with you, the reader. Third place in this weight class goes to Omargadzhi Magomedov from the team of Belarus, who had two wins. Other participants had only one Cup victory.

1st place - Mustafa Jokar (Iran), 3 wins (+34, -3)

2nd place - Dauren Kurugliev (Russia), 3 wins (+14, -0)

3rd place - Omargadzhi Magomedov (Belarus), 2 wins, (+ 20, -21)

At 97 kg, there was very strong company: Olympic champions Jake Varner and Sharip Sharipov, World champion Reza Yazdani, world championship medalist Javier Cortina and Asian champion Dorzhhand Huderbulga. In this strong company, the winner was Sharip Sharipov, representing Azerbaijani team. He won all of his matches, including over Yazdani by a score of 8:1. That Sharipov did not meet with American was a pity. This is his first solid success in his new weight class. The American Varner, with three wins, was in second place. Also having three wins, but losing to the American in their meeting was Cuban Cortina, who finished in third place.

1. Sharip Sharipov - Azerbaijan, 4 wins (+24, -3)

2. Jake Varner - US, 3 wins, 1 loss (+9, -7)

3. Javier Cortina - Cuba, 3 wins, 1 loss (+11, -6).

At 125 kg, very strong fighters were gathered. However, the will of the draw they often did not meet each other. In this situation analysis, choosing the winning individuals, preference is given to the wrestler who has the most victories. According to this criterion, the winner is former world champion Alexei Shemarov of Belaurs, who had three wins in four meetings. He defeated Magomedov (Azerbaijan), Gemichi (Turkey) and Zhargalsayhan (Mongolia), but lost to the Iranian Hadi. In this weight, with two technical falls victories, taking second place was the American Dlagnev. In addition, third place was claimed by both wrestlers from Iran: Hadi and Ghasemi. It is a pity that Ghasemi did not wrestle against Dlagnev.

1. Alexei Shemarov - Belarus, 3 wins, 1 loss (+23, -10)

2. Tervel Dlagnev - United States, 2 wins (+10, -0)

3. Kameyl Qasemi - Iran, 2 wins (+3, -1)

and Parviz Hadi - Iran, 2 wins (18, -2).

What does all of this mean? To the organizers from UWW, in addition to the team awards, the results have revealed individual winners. The winners of all the weight categories should be awarded medals and diplomas. What do you say to that?
