Team USA has 11 wrestlers in April UWW women’s freestyle rankings

The new United World Wrestling women’s freestyle World rankings are now available.


There are 11 American athletes that are ranked among the top 20 women’s freestyle wrestlers in the world at their weight class.


The top ranked American remains No. 1 Adeline Gray (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC) at 75 kg/165 lbs. Gray was a 2014 World champion, and most recently won all of her matches in dominant fashion at the 2015 World Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia.


The next highest ranked American wrestlers were No. 2 Helen Maroulis (Rockville, Md./Sunkist Kids) at 55 kg/121 lbs. and No. 2 Elena Pirozhkova (Colorado Springs, Colo./Titan Mercury WC) at 63 kg/138.75 lbs. Both were 2014 World medalists, with Pirozhkova earning silver and Maroulis getting bronze. Maroulis won all of her matches at the Women’s World Cup in Russia and also added a gold medal at the Mongolian Open.


Three other American women were in the top eight of their classes, No. 6 Whitney Conder (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army WCAP) at 53 kg/116.5 lbs., No. 8 Victoria Anthony (Huntington Beach, Calif./Titan Mercury WC) at 48 kg/105.5 lbs. and No. 8 Alli Ragan (Colorado Springs, Colo./New York AC). All three competed at the Women’s World Cup in Russia in March. Anthony added a bronze medal at the Mongolian Open.


The other five U.S. ranked wrestlers were all in last month’s rankings as well. They included

• Alyssa Lampe, Colorado Springs, Colo. (Sunkist Kids) at No. 12 at 48 kg/105.5 lbs.

• Becka Leathers, Choctaw, Okla. (Choctaw WC) at No. 17 at 55 kg/121 lbs.

• Randi Miller, Colorado Springs, Colo. (U.S. Army WCAP) at No. 17 at 69 kg/152 lbs.

• Kelsey Campbell, Tempe, Ariz. (Sunkist Kids) at No. 19 at 58 kg/128 lbs.

• Jackie Cataline, Alhambra, Calif. (Titan Mercury WC) at No. 20 at 75 kg


Cataline won a gold medal at the Mongolian Open, while Miller added a silver medal in Mongolia. Lampe, Miller and Campbell were on the U.S. World Cup team.


The top-ranked women’s freestyle wrestlers in the world in March were: Eri Tosaka of Japan (48 kg), Saori Yoshida of Japan (53 kg), Chiho Hamada of Japan (55 kg), Kaori Icho of Japan (58 kg), Petra Olli of Finland (60 kg), Yulia Tkach of Ukraine (63 kg), Aline Focken of Germany (69 kg) and Adeline Gray of the USA (75 kg).
