The first four U.S. men’s freestyle wrestlers have weighed in and received their draws at the 2014 World Wrestling Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Sept. 8-14.

2009 World bronze medalist and 2012 Olympian Tervel Dlagnev (Columbus, Ohio/Sunkist Kids) drew Aleksandr Romanov of Moldova in his first round at 125 kg/275 lbs. Romanov was fifth in 2014 World University Championships,

Dlagnev was also fifth at the 2012 Olympic Games and fifth at the 2011 and 2013 World Championships. He competed for Nebraska-Kearney in college, where he won two Div. II national titles.

“He had some really good training. He feels really fresh. He’s not tired. He has his legs underneath him. He feels physically ready and I think he is mentally ready. He is on the podium,” said National Freestyle Coach Bruce Burnett.

Three of the athletes competing on Monday for Team USA are competing their first Senior World Championships.

2014 NCAA champion Tony Ramos (Iowa City, Iowa/Titan Mercury WC) draw at 57 kg/125.5 lbs. has changed since the weigh ins. Instead of opening against a Chinese opponent, he has drawn Bekhbayar Erdenebat of Mongolia, a 2010 Junior World Champion.

The change occurred when FILA moved an athlete, Monaco’s Ghenadi Tulbea from the bottom bracket to the top bracket because of an error in data entry.

“He is going to show just how tough he is. He had good timing. I saw improvement from June to July to August. This last training phase has been really good for him,” said Burnett.

Former Missouri star Nick Marable (Morgantown, W.Va./Sunkist Kids) is entered at 70 kg/154 lbs., where he opens with 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Akzurek Tantarov of Kazakhstan.

“I’m telling you right now, he is going to be one of the strongest guys in his weight class. His athletic ability is off the charts. He’s excited to see what he can do,” said Burnett.

Three-time NCAA champion Ed Ruth (State College, Pa./Nittany Lion WC) will open against Yusup Melejaev of Turkmenistan at 86 kg/189 lbs. Melejaev was 11th in the 2014 Asian Championships.

“He wants to be so fast, nobody can see him. He has that potential. He’s really quick, he had great training. He is excited to be here and I’m excited to see him wrestle,” said Burnett.

This group of four athletes will be tasked with getting the USA to a strong start, as it constitutes half of the team going on the first day.

“The guys did a great job in their training and their weight cuts. They feel pretty good right now and they are ready to go. We had a good training camp. Now we are ready to wrestle. It’s time to show and the guys are ready to get on the mat and perform,” said Burnett
