USA Wrestling is pleased to announce the launch of its 2014-15 College Wrestling Google+ Hangout On Air Series featuring many of the top college wrestling programs from around the country, starting with the University of Missouri.
The Missouri Tigers Google+ Hangout will air live on TheMat.com next Tuesday, Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. (EST) as panelists will talk about the upcoming season, tem expectations and take fan questions.
Joining the Google+ Hangout panel from the Missouri program are Head Coach Brian Smith and past Tiger All-Americans Alan Waters and Drake Houdashelt.
Smith is entering his 17th season at the helm of the Missouri Tiger wrestling program, having coached 20 NCAA All-Americans and four individual NCAA champions, including 2008 Olympian Ben Askren. Most recently, Smith helped guide true freshman J’Den Cox to a 38-win season last year, capped by an NCAA title at 197 pounds.
Both Waters and Houdashelt are entering their senior campaigns for the Tigers as serious threats to win individual NCAA titles.
Waters will man the 125-pound post for Mizzou after taking a redshirt last season. He is a three-time NCAA qualifier for the Tigers, including a fourth-place finish at the NCAA tournament in 2013. Waters entered the 2013 NCAA tournament undefeated and the top seed before falling in the semifinals to three-time All-American Nico Megaludis of Penn State in overtime. He is also a two-time conference champion having won the Big 12 Championships in 2012 and the MAC Championship in 2013.
Houdashelt will return for the Tigers at 149 pounds coming off the second All-American performance of his career last season. He has placed fifth and sixth at the NCAA tournament the past two seasons. Houdashelt is a three-time conference champion, earning a Big 12 title in 2012 and MAC titles in 2013 and 2014.
Fans are encouraged to ask questions to the panelists using either the Google+ Q&A application or by tweeting questions using #MizzouHangout.
The Missouri Tiger Google+ Hangout will be archived on the USA Wrestling YouTube Channel for public viewing after the conclusion of the event.
