Illinois starts strong in Cadet National Duals freestyle competition

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Illinois continues to stockpile lopsided victories at the Cadet National Duals.
Illinois won three duals en route to winning Pool A of the Cadet National Duals freestyle competition on Friday at the Ocean Center Exhibit Hall.
Illinois, which won its fourth straight Cadet National Duals Greco title on Thursday, rolled past Florida Blue (75-3), Virginia (57-16) and New Jersey (59-19) to win Pool A in freestyle.
Illinois also is the defending Cadet National Duals champion in freestyle.
The top two finishers in each of the four pools advance to Saturday’s Gold/Silver Pool which determines the champion of the event.
Ohio Red won Pool B with a 53-22 win over Indiana.
Pennsylvania won Pool C with a 38-35 win over Oklahoma Red.
Michigan won Pool D with a 53-26 win over Utah.
Cadet wrestlers are born in 1998 and 1999.
