The University of Minnesota won its third straight National Duals championship on Monday and remained No. 1 in the most recent USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll released on Wednesday.
For the first time this season, the Gophers (13-1) garnered all 10 first-place votes. Penn State (14-1) remained No. 2, while Iowa (14-2), Cornell (12-1) and Northern Iowa (12-0) remained in place in the top five.
With Cornell’s loss to Minnesota in the finals of the National Duals, Northern Iowa is the only unbeaten team left in the country in dual meets in Division I.
The rest of the top 10: Oklahoma State (9-5) is sixth, followed by Michigan (11-4), Nebraska (11-2), Missouri (9-2) and Pittsburgh (12-3). Pittsburgh fell four spots after losses last week to Edinboro and Michigan.
The National Duals caused some movement as Oregon State (11-7) made the biggest jump, moving up seven spots to No. 18, while North Dakota State (10-6) climbed to No. 19, its highest in school history at the Division I level.
Central Michigan (10-9) rebounded from two tough outings to have a strong showing at the National Duals. The Chippewas move into the Top 25 again this week at No. 25.
Big Ten teams hold down nine of the 25 spots, while the Big 12, ACC and MAC have three apiece.
