Media accreditation begins for 2014 Freestyle World Cup in Los Angeles, Calif., March 15-16

USA Wrestling has initiated the media accreditation process for the 2014 Freestyle World Cup, which will be hosted at The Forum in Los Angeles, Calif., March 15-16. The World Cup is the annual international dual meet championships, and will feature the top 10 men’s freestyle wrestling teams in the world.


Media members will be requested to completely fill out an accreditation form, providing complete information about their media outlet, their job function and additional information. Each media member seeking accreditation will be required to fill out their own form.

The completed accreditation form can be sent to Gary Abbott of USA Wrestling via FAX at 719-598-9440 or by mail. USA Wrestling will respond to each media request in a timely fashion.


Accreditation requests sent by email will be accepted, if the requested information is included. Information required in email applications includes name of journalist, name of media outlet, address of journalist, phone number, cell phone number, email, website, FILA wrestling events attended, Olympic Games attended, AIPS number, media category, job function, arrival and departure dates.


The media categories include: newspaper, magazine, website, television, radio, agency, federation or other. The job functions include: print journalist, photographer, videographer, commentator, technician and other.

Deadline for media accreditation requests is 10 March, 2014.


Media members will have the opportunity to stay at the official host hotel, the Hilton Los Angeles Airport, as part of the World Cup room block there. The rate for a room is $109 U.S. plus tax each night. Media must go online directly to secure their room at the following website link:

Accredited media are not required to stay at the host hotel and may make their own arrangements, as desired. USA Wrestling and FILA will not handle hotel accommodations for media attending the Freestyle World Cup.


Journalists who are approved for accreditation will receive additional information, including event press releases, press conference information and other event related materials.


The 10 nations which will compete for the World Cup are (alphabetically): Armenia, Georgia, India, Iran, Japan, Mongolia, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine, United States. Nations were invited based upon final team standings at the 2013 World Championships.
