“Foxcatcher” receives three Golden Globe nominations

Nominations for the 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards were released Thursday morning.
The movie “Foxcatcher,” released by Sony Pictures, has received three nominations. Included are Best Motion Picture, Drama, Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Drama for Steve Carell and Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture for Mark Ruffalo.
“Foxcatcher” tells the story of Olympic champions Mark Schultz and Dave Schultz, and tells their tragic story as members of Team Foxcatcher, a club created by du Pont family heir John E. Du Pont. The movie
Joining “Foxcatcher” as nominees in the Best Motion Picture – Drama category are "Boyhood,"
"The Imitation Game,""Selma" and "The Theory of Everything.”
Steve Carell plays millionare John E. du Pont, who created Team Foxcatcher for Olympic-caliber wrestlers. du Pont mentored Mark Schultz and murdered his brother Dave Schultz on Foxcatcher Farms.
Other nominees along with Carell for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama were Benedict Cumberbatch in"The Imitation Game," Jake Gyllenhaal in "Nightcrawler," David Oyelowo in"Selma" and Eddie Redmayne in"The Theory of Everything."
Mark Ruffalo plays Olympic champion Dave Schultz, who follows his younger brother and Olympic champion Mark Schultz to Foxcatcher Farms, where he lives and trains under the support of John E. du Pont.
Also nominated for Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture alongside Mark Ruffalo are Robert Duvall in "The Judge," Ethan Hawke in "Boyhood, "Edward Norton in "Birdman" and J.K. Simmons in "Whiplash."
