Three talented American wrestlers are set to compete at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games held in Nanjing, China on August 25-27.

Mason Manville of Blairstown, N.J. will battle in the Greco-Roman competition on August 25 and Cade Olivas of Fontana, Calif. and Daton Fix of Sand Springs, Okla. will compete in the men’s freestyle competition on August 27.

Manville will wrestle in the 69 kg/152 lbs. weight class in Nanjing.

Manville has had a banner year in 2014. He was crowned FILA Cadet World Champion in freestyle this July in Snina, Slovakia. He also won gold in both styles at the 2014 Cadet Pan American Championships and FILA Cadet Nationals in addition to winning a Junior National Championship in Fargo, N.D. mere days after winning Cadet World gold.

Olivas will represent the U.S. at 46 kg/104.4 lbs.

Olivas was a 2013 FILA Cadet World bronze medalist in Greco-Roman and finished in seventh place at the FILA Cadet Worlds in freestyle in July. He won both styles at the 2014 Pan American Cadet Championships. He was first in freestyle and second in Greco-Roman at the 2014 FILA Cadet National Championships.

Fix will round out the U.S. competitors at the Youth Olympic Games, and will compete at 54 kg/119 lbs. next week.

Fix also competed at the 2014 FILA Cadet World Championships, finishing in 10th place in men’s freestyle. He won both styles at the 2014 Pan American Cadet Championships and was also champion in both freestyle and Greco-Roman at the 2014 FILA Cadet Nationals, as well as the 2013 Cadet Nationals. Fix added a 2014 USA Wrestling Folkstyle National Cadet title this spring.

Coaching the U.S. Youth Olympic Wrestling Team is Sara Bahoura, formerly Fulp-Allen, of Norfolk, Va.

Bahoura was a seven-time National Team member for the U.S. and was third in both the 2008 and 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials. She won a silver medal at the 2005 Junior World Championships and won two medals at the University World Championships.

“The boys are doing really well. It's great to work with such dedicated, well mannered young men,” Bahoura said. “They all are experienced at the World level and have confidence in what they are here to do. I am excited to be on this journey with them.”

The Youth Olympic Games will be hosted August 16-28. The wrestling competition will be held August 25-27. Wrestlers participating in the competition are in the FILA Cadet age group (ages 15-17 years old).

To qualify at each weight class, the United States needed to win at the YOG weight classes at the 2014 Pan American FILA Cadet Championships in Recife, Brazil, which served as the international qualifier for this Youth Olympic Games.

The United States qualified for the Youth Olympic Games through the Pan American Cadet Championships at 46 kg and 54 kg in men’s freestyle and at 69 kg and 85 kg in Greco-Roman. The United States did not qualify to compete in the Youth Olympic Games in women’s freestyle.
