Sweden tops USOEC, 7-3, in Greco-Roman dual meet in Sweden

HARNOSAND, Sweden – A team of athletes from the Greco-Roman program from the U.S. Olympic Education Center at Northern Michigan University dropped a dual meet to a Swedish team on Wednesday, 7-3.
Winning matches for the USOEC were sophomore Sammy Jones of Folsum, La. at 60 kg/132 lbs., freshman Travis Rice of Washington, Ill. at 60 kg/132 lbs. and freshman Orry Elor of Walnut Creek, Calif. (USOEC) at 96 kg/211.5 lbs.
Jones and Rice beat the same Swedish athlete, Simon Anderson, with Jones getting a 7-0 technical fall and Rice winning 4-0.
Elor scored a 7-0 technical fall over William Hakansson.
The team will compete in the Little Malar Cup tournament in Vasteras, Sweden on Saturday and Sunday. The USOEC athletes have also been doing some international training while in Sweden.
