The Positive Coaching Alliance Double-Goal Coach Awards, presented by Liberty Mutual, announced their annual list of the 20 coaches who earned acknowledgment in this nationally recognized award program, and Sean Harrington, a USA Wrestling certified coach and coach of the Brickhouse Wrestling Club, was named one of the 2011 winners!
Working with youth wrestlers at his gym, Harrington draws on experience as an assistant coach at Harvard University, two-time Olympic Trials qualifier and two-time All-America selection at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. He was also a U.S. Olympic Training Center resident athlete for a number of years.
"I like to teach life through wrestling," he said. "We spend a lot of time talking about character, being the ultimate sportsman, being a leader....When I get into that wrestling room and see the smiles on the kids' faces, I realize it's my job to help make a kid a better person. I really enjoy seeing these kids grow from little seedlings."
"All of the winners of this prestigious award exemplify responsibility, which is the characteristic we at Liberty Mutual value most" said Greg Gordon, Liberty Mutual's senior vice president of consumer marketing. "That's why we are committed to supporting PCA's Double-Goal Coach Awards program. It is tremendously important that these fine coaches be held up as examples to be emulated."
