Excerpt from Bobby Douglas: Life and Legacy of an American Wrestling Legend:
"Dan Severn put on a show when he wrestled" Douglas said. "Our attendance went way up when he started wrestling for us. He helped put Arizona State on the map in wrestling, and made it a place where the top kids in the country wanted to come."
Severn twice won the World championship belt in the National Wrestling Alliance, first in 1995 and then again in 2001. He was also a star in the World Wrestling Federation.
Severn is best known for his legendary career in mixed martial arts. He is a three-time UFC champion and a UFC Hall of Famer. He was the first World-class wrestler to make his mark in the UFC, blazing a trail for numerous other wrestlers. He has trained with and mentored current UFC stars, including Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Rashad Evans.
