Tarleton State wins the 2026 NCWA Women's National Championship

BOSSIER CITY, La. – For the second-straight season, Tarleton State won the team title at the 2026 NCWA National Championships behind five individual champions. The Texans racked up 215 points over the three-day tournament at Brookshire Grocery Arena in Bossier City, La.


Along with having five champions, Tarleton State had 13 All-Americans.


At 110 pounds, Rachel Corley won her second-straight NCWA title behind four bonus victories. Corley capped off her title run with a 17-0 technical fall in the championship.


U.S. Senior National Team member Aine Drury won the 145-pound bracket for the Texans with pins in each of her four bouts. Anna DiCugno captured the 131-pound title with five victories, four coming by fall.


Fiona Smith (117 pounds) and Jennifer Soto (138 pounds) capped off the individual champions for the Texans. Soto beat each opponent in the tournament by pin, and Smith had four pins before winning a 14-5 major decision in the finals.


Cassandra Freundlich of UNLV was the only other repeat champion at the NCWA National Championships. At 160 pounds, Freundlich grabbed a 13-5 major decision to secure her second-straight national title.


UNLV, which finished sixth overall, produced a second national champion in 124-pounder Felicia Bell.


Menlo finished second in the team race with 145 points. Neila Fritts was the lone national champion for the Oaks after she pinned defending champion Erin Kremer of Washington State in the finals. Menlo had eight All-Americans.


Utah Tech capped off the top three in the team standings after racking up 129 points over the three days with six All-Americans.


Central Florida’s Sofia James and Katrina Wangen won the individual titles at 180 pounds and 207 pounds, respectively. Wangen was a finalist at last year’s national championships. Jocelynn Benitez (103 pounds) of Fresno State rounded out the individual champions at the NCWA National Championships.
