USA Wrestling's FILA Junior/University Division Executive Committee has approved a change in the World Team Trials procedures for the FILA Junior World Championships.
The change is as follows:
1) Returning year Junior World medalist will be moved to the finals of the Junior World Team Trials.
2) If the World medalist wins the FILA Junior National Championships, they will then have a leg up on the field for the Junior World Team Trials.
3) If for medical reasons, the Junior World medalist is unable to compete in the Junior World Team Trials, they will be allowed to delay the wrestle-off.
This will affect those trying out for the Junior World Teams this year. The Junior World Championships will be held in Bucharest, Romania.
"A proposal was brought to us by the National Coaches" said Jerry Reicks, Chair of the FILA Junior/University Division Executive Committee. "We saw this as a great opportunity to help us in our performance at the age-group World Championships. It matches much of what we are doing at the Olympic Trials for individuals who have already performed at the World level."
