Consider the following successful milestones from the most recent season:
Training our U.S. Olympic Teams: When Henry Cejudo won the Olympic Championship at the Beijing Games, it was the ninth consecutive Olympics when a U.S. wrestler has won a Gold medal!
New networking opportunities USA Wrestling has developed a presence on Facebook and My Space, and has created a USA Wrestling video channel on YouTube.
Grassroots Programs: The 2007-08 membership year, which ended on August 31, 2008, set annual records for athletes, coaches, and clubs. During the 2007-08 year, USA Wrestling registered 147,014 athlete members, 22,684 member and 3,511 clubs. This is an impressive increase over the previous high from other years.
Communications: USA Wrestling conducted pre-Olympic and post Olympic media tours this year. Prior to the Olympic Games, using its unprecedented fundraising campaign "Fuel the Dream" as a platform, the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team spent three days in New York City. In addition to ringing the New York Stock Exchange Closing Bell, several dozen media interviews took place with USA Today, The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, ESPN and other national media. After the Beijing Games, Olympic medalists Henry Cejudo and Randi Miller were featured at the U.S Open Tennis Championships and another round of interviews with national media. Cejudo appeared on the Tonight Show and both Cejudo and Miller appeared on Oprah!
