J.P. O’Connor (Oxford, N.Y./Harvard University) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Nov. 11-17.

Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
The fifth-ranked O'Connor knocked off returning NCAA champion Jordan Leen of Cornell 7-5 in double-overtime en route to winning the 157-pound title at the Binghamton Brute Open on Nov. 15 in Binghamton, N.Y.
O'Connor, a junior, scored a takedown in the second tiebreaker to win the match with Leen in a battle of college standouts. O'Connor, a two-time All-All-American, advanced to the finals by earning three decisions and a technical fall.
O'Connor bumps up a weight class this year after placing fifth and sixth nationally at 149. He was Ivy League Wrestler of the Year in 2008.
