Cary Kolat was a two-time World medalist and Olympian in freestyle wrestling, and truly understands the challenge of being a World-class athlete in wrestling.

Now a respected coach and businessman, Kolat has found a unique way to give back to the sport by financially assisting one of today's top U.S. freestyle stars.

Kolat now manages www.Kolat.com, a successful website where athletes, coaches and families can get cutting-edge techniques and coaching tips to help them improve performance and master all aspects of wrestling.

After this weekend's World Team Trials event, wrestling fans can go to Kolat.com and vote on which member of the 2009 U.S. World Team will receive a $5,000 donation directly from Kolat's business to support their training.

Voters need not be a paying member of Kolat.com to vote, but are required to sign up for a free account. The money will go to support the training of the athlete chosen.

"Going into this project, there were a lot of causes that I would want our profits to go towards. All along, I have wanted to be an advocate for the athlete, the ones who are actually doing it. It is starting to turn a profit and I want to give back," said Kolat.

Many believe that Cary Kolat was one of the most talented freestyle wrestlers of his era. A legend as a Pennsylvania high school, he competed for Penn State and Lock Haven and won two NCAA titles. He was No. 1 in the USA in freestyle for four straight seasons (1997-2000), winning a World silver medal and a World bronze medal and competing at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.

As Kolat posts on the website: "Technique is so important in wrestling that as I improved I was forced to constantly seek out coaches who could take me to a higher level technically. Over the years I came across coaches and techniques that helped me obtain a high level of success. This technical knowledge increased my ability to wrestle with some of the world's best."

When the World Team Trials ends in Council Bluffs, Iowa this weekend, Kolat.com will post a list of the U.S. World Team members on the website and allow fans to vote on one athlete they want to receive financial support.

"My goal, if you support Kolat.com, you know that, in addition to getting the best technique in the world, you are also supporting the best wrestlers in the United States." Kolat said.

When people like Cary Kolat step up for the athletes and the sport, our national program gets stronger and more successful. Support Team USA by taking part in the Kolat.com voting for the donation to one of our World Team heroes.
