TITLE: Men's Wrestling Program Coordinator

GRADE: Coach

No Overtime

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:
Direct and coordinate all aspects of an elite level, resident athlete training program for Olympic aspiring student athletes. Coordinate short-term training camps and competitions.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Develop and implement a comprehensive training program to produce Olympic champions.

2. Work closely with USA Wrestling's national team coach to recruit the highest level of athletes possible for the resident program.

3. Work with academic support staff at Northern Michigan University to ensure the academic success of the resident athletes.

4. Monitor the supervision of athletes in the residence hall and supervise the dorm liaison.

5. Counsel and teach athletes about developing skills and tailor the training program for each athlete as necessary.

6. Coordinate the participation by resident athletes in selected competitions.

7. Counsel athletes on the dietary and mental aspects of wrestling as appropriate.

8. Coordinate short-term training camps and competitions as appropriate.

9. Assist the USOEC administrative staff with developing and maintaining world class athlete facilities.

10. Communicate ideas for special workshops and other programs to the USOEC administrative staff.

11. Submit required reports, athlete/program reviews, and other required paperwork to the USOEC staff in a timely manner.

12. Serve as a representative of USA Wrestling and the USOEC in speaking engagements and their public appearances.

13. Coordinate the participation of male wrestlers in public appearances.

14. Promote safety at all training sessions.

15. Work in a positive, productive manner with a wide variety of NMU's students, peers, other employees and external constituents.

16. Perform duties of a lower classification as required.

17. Work in a safe manner being aware of personal safety and the safety of others.

18. Responsible for observing safety, health and sanitation codes, regulations, or practices required by university or governmental authority.

19. Perform related duties as assigned.

Supervision is received from the Assistant Director of the U.S. Olympic Education Center.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor's Degree
2. Three years' coaching experience in wrestling.
3. Extensive experience in Olympic-style wrestling either as an athlete or as a coach.
4. Broad understanding of USA Wrestling and the Olympic movement.
