Scott Green named USA Wrestling FILA Junior/University Person of the Year

Scott Green of Binghamton, N.Y.. was named USA Wrestling FILA Junior/University Person of the Year. This award goes to a leader(s) who works with athletes and programs on the FILA Junior (ages 17-20) and University (ages 18-24) levels.
Green coaches the Shamrock Wrestling Club in upstate New York, providing high quality training and competition opportunities to young wrestlers in his community. The athletes in his club are very active on USA Wrestling's FILA Junior and University level, and have had considerable success.
This year, he coached a University Nationals champion and a FILA Junior Nationals champion. Four of his athletes earned All-American on the University level and four others were FILA Junior All-Americans. In the last three years, he has mentored two other FILA Junior champions and a total of seven All-American on either the University or FILA Junior level.
The Shamrock program has produced 67 All-Americans in the last 10 years at the Junior and Cadet Nationals in Fargo, N.D. Included were champions Troy Nickerson and Don Vinson.
He has served 17 years as a coaching staff member for New York USA Wrestling on the Cadet and Junior levels. During the last five years, he has helped increase New York athlete participation at the FILA Junior Nationals and the University Nationals by 200%.
Green also serves as an assistant coach at Div. I Binghamton University, which competes in the Colonial Athletic Association. This is his fourth year with the program, and BU had its first Div. I All-American this year. There are two athletes affiliated with the program which qualified for the FILA Junior World Team this year.
He has been named Northeast Regional Coach of the Year in the past.
He was a coach at Oxford High School for five years, mentoring four-time state champion J.P. O'Connor, who went on the win two All-American honors at Harvard.
