The National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum sends educational materials in anticipation of its Wrestling Presidents Exhibit
STILLWATER, OK (October 23, 2008) - High school and club wrestling coaches around the country can expect to receive an educational kit from the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum, which tells of the amazing stories of 13 wrestling Presidents in United States history.
"This is a great time to be telling these stories while we are in the midst of the presidential election," said Lee Roy Smith, Executive Director of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum.
The kit includes a 126-page book featuring biographies and trivia questions on each of the 13 wrestling Presidents, an 8-minute documentary DVD, a 12' x 18' wall poster, and a "Why Wrestle?" brochure.
"The materials are intended to assist coaches in promoting the sport in their local communities, while at the same time, educating the nation's youth about the background of some of our most prominent Presidents," Smith said.
In addition, The National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum will unveil 18 months of research with an exhibit titled The Wrestling Presidents: From Pins to Patriots. The exhibit features 13 United States Presidents that had a wrestling background before ascending to the highest position in our country.
"We are proud to acknowledge the contributions 13 Wrestling Presidents have made to our country," Smith continued. "It is interesting that their wrestling stories are as intriguing as their struggles in the oval office."
Presidential historians, William S. Worley, Ph.D. and Gary M. Gray, Ed.D. have meticulously researched and documented how these men engaged in the activity of wrestling and how their participation helped develop the leadership skills that would impact not only their lives, but the life of our nation. The exhibit will feature illustrations by artist Dayne Dudley depicting a portrait and wrestling action scenes on each of the 13 American Presidents.
The Wrestling Presidents: From Pins to Patriots will open November 3, 2008 and runs through the presidential inauguration in January 2009.
Anyone interested in ordering additional copies of The Wrestling Presidents: From Pins to Patriots book and DVD will need to contact the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum at (405) 377-5243 or visit the website at www.wrestlinghalloffame.org. In addition the book can be purchased from Amazon.com. The cost for the book and DVD is $14.95 plus shipping.
