Oostendorp is the currently the head wrestling coach at Coe College. The Kohawks placed fourth at the 2008 Division III NCAA tournament and Oostendorp was named 2008 National Wrestling Coach of the Year. This year's Coe team had five All-Americans and its first NCAA champion in school history.

Kieta, a former wrestler who is blind in both eyes, used his wrestling skills to overpower an intruder and hold the man at knifepoint until help arrived.
