It's A Membership Boom!!!
USA Wrestling's membership through the month of February has set all time records looking at year-to-date figures.
Athlete memberships for the month ending February 2008 stood at 78,138, almost 15,000 more members than last year at this same time. Coaches memberships exceeded last year's totals for this time frame by more than 2,500 members. The number of clubs was over 300 more compared to last year. USA Wrestling is definitely experiencing a membership boom!
These outstanding mid-membership year figures are a tribute to the hard work of many thousands of USA Wrestling volunteer coaches and state leaders, who are providing excellent programs and opportunities for USA Wrestling members.
An extensive and ever-growing folkstyle program being sanctioned by USA Wrestling has added tournament and program opportunities for thousands of members. In addition, the advent of online membership registration has allowed USA Wrestling to reach out to many more individuals who have become interested in our organization and the programs that are provided.
Looking at the mid-membership figures, the top five state associations in the athlete membership category are:
1. Illinois 11,317
2. Kansas 7,061
3. Missouri 5,256
4. Georgia 4,404
5. New York 4,261
Leading the way in Coaches memberships are:
1. Illinois 2,920
2. Missouri 1,576
3. Kansas 1,553
4. Georgia 795
5. California 727.
In the charted club category the top five state associations are:
1. California 264
2. Illinois 259
3. Kansas 182
4. Indiana 154
5. Missouri 147.
USA Wrestling congratulates all its state associations on an outstanding mid-membership year, and looks forward to a strong second half of the membership year.
