Michael Kemerer selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week

Michael Kemerer (Murrysville, Pa./Univ. of Iowa) has been selected as USA Wrestling Athlete of the Week on Feb. 4, 2020.
Then-No. 3 Kemerer went 2-0 on the weekend in dual action at 174 pounds for Iowa.
On Friday night, the Hawkeyes took on Penn State in the premiere dual of the season, where Kemerer picked up an 11-6 decision against No. 1 and 2017 NCAA champion Mark Hall to help Iowa to a dual win.
Two days later, Kemerer wrapped up an impressive weekend with a 13-3 major decision against No. 23 Layne Malczewski of Michigan State.
Because of his performance, Kemerer earned Flowrestling’s No. 1 ranking at 174 pounds.
Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level. Twitter fan votes also play a part in decision.
