Tyler Graff (Princeton, N.J./Titan Mercury WC/NJRTC) has been selected as TheMat.com Athlete of the Week on June 18, 2019.

Graff, 30 years old, made his first Senior World team on Saturday at Final X: Lincoln, defeating returning Senior World bronze medalist Joe Colon in an exciting three-match series at 61 kg.

Colon won the first match after a thrilling, back-and-forth first period, taking the match 6-4.

In the second bout, Graff used a second-period four-pointer to give him the advantage in a 9-2 victory to force the series to a third match.

The final match saw Colon take an early 2-0 lead, but about 30 seconds later, Graff scored on a takedown and locked up a leg lace, executing five turns for a 12-2 tech fall in 1:34.

Graff will compete at the 2019 Senior World Championships at 61 kg in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, in September.

As an age-group athlete, Graff was a two-time Junior World Team member, representing the USA in 2007 and 2008.

Each week USA Wrestling will select an Athlete of the Week based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling from youth programs through the senior level. Twitter fan votes also play a part in decision.

To nominate a wrestler for this honor please send the athlete's name, wrestling program, weekly accomplishments and career accolades to USA Wrestling Communications Coordinator Taylor Miller at tmiller@usawrestling.org.
