Spenser Mango (Colorado Springs, Colo./U.S. Army) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
Mango went 3-0 to highlight the U.S. performance during the Curby Cup Greco-Roman competition on Saturday in La Grange, Ill.
Mango, a two-time Olympian, started off the competition by defeating 2012 Olympic bronze medalist Peter Modos of Hungary 1-0, 1-0 at 55 kg/121 lbs.
Mango also recorded victories over Nikola Markovic of Serbia and Justas Petravicius of Lithuania during the event. He pinned Markovic and swept Petravicius 2-0, 7-0.
Mango captured a U.S. Open title last month in Las Vegas.
