Elena Pirozhkova named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for June 26-July 2

Elena Pirozhkova (Colorado Springs, Colo./Gator WC) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for June 26-July 2.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
Pirozhkova won a women's freestyle title at 63 kg/138.75 lbs. at the Canada Cup on Saturday in Guelph, Canada.
Pirozhkova, a 2010 World silver medalist, defeated long-time rival Justine Bouchard of Canada in the finals in three periods.
Bouchard, also a past World medalist, won the first period from the leg clinch. Pirozhkova recovered to win the next two periods, scoring offensive takedowns in both.
Pirozhkova will compete in the Olympic Games on Aug. 8 in London, England.
