Kendric Maple named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Dec. 27-Jan. 2

Kendric Maple (Wichita, Kan./University of Oklahoma) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Dec. 27-Jan. 2.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
Maple was named Outstanding Wrestler after capturing the 141-pound title at the Midlands Championships on Dec. 30 in Evanston, Ill.
The seventh-ranked Maple knocked off No. 1 Montell Marion of Iowa 5-3 in the finals.
Maple, a sophomore, was an NCAA qualifier in 2010 before redshirting this past season for the Sooners.
Maple won a FILA Junior Nationals freestyle title this past April in Cleveland.
