Travis Paulson (Lincoln, Neb./Sunkist Kids) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for May 5-11.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level.
Paulson drew high praise from U.S. National Freestyle Coach Zeke Jones for his performance during the World Team Trials national training camp this past week at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs.
Jones said Paulson "had a great camp, was well-focused and took a leadership role with the team."
Paulson won the U.S. Nationals last month at 74 kg/163 lbs. to earn a berth in the final-round series of the U.S. World Team Trials. The Trials are set for May 30-31 in Paulson's hometown of Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Paulson's twin brother, Trent, also won the U.S. Nationals at 66 kg/145.5 lbs. to earn a berth in the finals of the Trials.
