Jacob Clark (Okinawa, Japan/U.S. Marines) has been named TheMat.com Wrestler of the Week for Feb. 20-26.
Each week, TheMat.com will select an Athlete of the Week, based upon performance within wrestling for that week. The selection committee will consider any level of wrestling, from youth programs through the Senior level. The announcement will be made each week on Wednesday.
Clark compiled a perfect 3-0 record at 84 kg/185 pounds in helping the United States Greco-Roman team place second at the World Cup on Feb. 24-25 in Antalya, Turkey.
Clark, a 2006 U.S. World Team member, pinned Russia's Dmitry Oralov before earning decisions over Davaud Abedienzadeh of Iran and Vitaliy Lishcynskyy of Ukraine at the World Cup.
Clark went 1-2 and placed 12th in his first trip to the World Championships this past September in Guangzhou, China.
