Book hotel rooms NOW for 2022 U.S. Open at South Point Hotel in Las Vegas, April 27-May 1, because the NFL Draft is in town

by Gary Abbott, USA Wrestling

Traditionally, the U.S. Open is one of the largest and most important events on the USA Wrestling National schedule. This year will be no different, as eight different major national events at multiple levels will be held during a week of outstanding wrestling.

There is one major message USA Wrestling wants to share about this year’s event. BOOK YOUR ROOM NOW. Those who delay may not be able to get into the host hotel and may be forced to pay very high room rates in other facilities.

It’s important to know that the NFL Draft will be happening in Las Vegas during this event, and there is expected to be a shortage of hotel rooms as well as substantial hotel rate increases.

USA Wrestling is set to host the 2022 U.S. Open, which is returning to the South Point Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, April 27-May 1.

The event will feature the national tournaments for the Senior (MFS, WFS, GR), UWW Junior (MFS, GR), UWW Cadet (MFS, GR), UWW U15 (MFS, GR), UWW Futures (MFS, GR), Girls High School National Recruiting Showcase and Masters divisions.

In order to assure room availability and registration discount, you must book rooms at South Point prior to registering. Room reservations and discount codes are not guaranteed after this block sells out. The deadline to book rooms for discounted rates at South Point is March 28, 2022. USA Wrestling is not responsible for hotel room shortages. Book now to alleviate higher hotel and entry fee prices.

BOOK ROOMS NOW, THEN REGISTER. Most people already may know that they plan to attend the U.S. Open this year. With the NFL Draft in Las Vegas, taking care of your rooming needs now is an absolute must.

Registration is now open for all divisions and will run through April 25. Save money off of your registration by booking your hotel room through the South Point.

The entire tournament will be live streamed on

Things to know:

• The new event on the schedule is the High School National Recruiting Showcase for girls, which was held last year in Coralville, Iowa. All current and past high school state champions in Grades 9-12 automatically qualify for this event, as well as those who earn their spot through a Showcase Qualifier. This event is in freestyle wrestling, which is the collegiate style for women, and will be watched closely by college coaches and recruiters.

• The Senior national tournaments at the U.S. Open will serve as a qualifier for the World Team Trials.

• This will also serve as the Cadet World Team Trials for men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman, and will be a part of the UWW U15 men’s freestyle and Greco-Roman Pan American Championships selection.
